The public is invited to attend the March 29 Family Caregivers and Adult Children Support Group at Pittman Grove Baptist Church in Raeford. Kenneth I Laws II, COO of Orthotics & Prosthetics of Pinehurst, will be the guest speaker. The March discussion topic, “Be Kind to Your Feet!” discusses the importance of good foot care as we age.

Presented by Ken Laws

Laws joined the staff of Orthotics & Prosthetics of Pinehurst in 2014. His career in the medical field includes over 15 years of experience as an electroneurodiagnostic technologist and sleep technician. Laws is active in the community and currently serves on the Stroke of Patriotism’s appropriation committee, a non-profit organization that supports our local disabled veterans in need. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Sandhills Professional Case Managers Association.

Why You Should Care for Your Feet

The National Institute on Aging reminds us that years of wear and tear can be hard on our feet. Disease, bad circulation, poorly trimmed toenails, and wearing shoes that don’t fit can trigger foot problems and are sometimes the first sign of more serious medical conditions such as arthritisdiabetes, and nerve or circulatory disorders.

Laws will share information on foot care, prevention, caring for your feet and address specific diagnoses that require special attention. He welcomes your questions and will conclude the program with a short question and answer session.

The monthly family caregiver and adult children support group meetings provide resources and support through the challenges of caregiving for family, adult children and spouses dealing with Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s and all types of aging issues. The discussion topic changes monthly to provide guidance and information.

Donna Brock, the support group facilitator and trained Alzheimer’s educator, leads the monthly discussions. Brock is a professional Aging Life Care™ manager and caregiver registry administrator with Aging Outreach Services.

The public is invited to attend this family caregiver and adult children support group on Tuesday, March 29 from 5:30-7 p.m. at Pittman Grove Baptist Church in Raeford. The group meets monthly on the fourth Tuesday with a guest speaker.
